Framing Advice

Displaying Memorabilia

by Nancy Muldowney

More can be put into picture frames than artwork and photographs. The sky's the limit when it comes to sports objects. Immortalize that winning season or fantastic game or programs and tickets from an event you enjoyed. You can make an outstanding focal point for any room with the mementos you have stuffed away in boxes or drawers of items that have special meaning to you. Some things may be collectibles and others may just be sentimental objects, like your home run baseball.

Collecting mementos of special occasions like a wedding, a graduation and putting them in a picture frame can be a wonderful gift to a special family member or friend. There are many styles of shadow box frames available to present the treasures that you have collected. We have framed wedding bouquets, football t-shirts and graduation tassels and announcements.

Christening dresses can be displayed in a frame so it can be seen and it will also preserve it very well. You could also do booties and bonnets or rattles, etc. to preserve for your children. I once saw a kimono that was displayed in a box frame which was a wonderful way to preserve it and also allow it to be seen at all times.

You can put golf clubs and balls into a frame. We have done hole flags also. If the item is too wide or big to go in a regular frame, there are three dimensional display boxes available to be put on table surfaces.

Hopefully these suggestions will spark some creative thoughts for you to give some unique gifts for all those upcoming occasions like Mother's Day, Father's Day, graduations and weddings.
