Framing Advice
Frame It to Preserve It!
by Nancy Muldowney
Our world today seems to be a different place than when our children were young. There seems to be more unstable conditions in life today than I remember. Things that we took for granted just need more attention today. It would seem prudent to make the most of each moment and each relationship we have because who knows what tomorrow will bring.
One of the trends that we have seen in the framing business during this past year or so is the attention people seem to be paying to old photographs and treasured items that they have inherited. Also things that they decide need to be preserved for their children or their children's children are being brought in to not only display but to preserve with archival materials so that they will retain their value for years to come.
Today there are many options for protecting precious mementoes, whatever they may be. There are a great variety of treatments because there are many different mats of all colors and designs, which can be used to preserve your heirlooms. There are many kinds of shadowbox frames for items that are thick as well as those that are thinner. Cloth items can be stitched right onto a backing board and folds can be arranged in a pleasing manner to be attractive.
In the Artshoppe we can also build a display box for a treasured baseball, a ship model or any other kind of memento that you have saved and want preserved. There are so many ways to make up a gift for future generations to enjoy. These can be the most precious gifts that you can give this Christmas to others and yourself.
